Creative Education Fund Recipients
The following four schools each received $500 as part of council's 2026 Creative Education Fund initiative. While part of the broader Arts and Culture Grant stream, the fund specifically supports primary, secondary and specialist schools across the shire to provide creative opportunities for students.
- St Arnaud Primary School - Art Show
St Arnaud Primary School Art Show was a much loved and long-standing school event that was unfortunately interrupted by COVID and hasn't made its way back into the schedule. The Art Show was biannual event which showcased student artwork and timed to coincide with other significant town events such as the Harvest Festival. Many years have passed and a new Art teacher has taken over the reins with a renewed vision for a Come Back Art Show.
- Stawell Primary School - Foundation School Show
Stawell Primary School will host a Grade Prep (Foundation) School Play, a creative and educational event that celebrates students’ learning through art, craft and performance. The project will include purchasing new art supplies for student-led creative activities and hosting a live performance that showcases their work. The play highlights the students’ development in literacy, confidence and artistic expression. Funding will support the creation of costumes, backdrops and props, enhancing the overall experience for students and their families while promoting a love for the arts in early education.
- Stawell West Primary School - Young Creators
Stawell West Primary School has a strong value on creativity and providing every student the opportunity to express themselves through the arts. Throughout the coming school year, students work on a range of art projects with the goal of creating pieces to enter into the local Stawell Show. This not only encourages participation in arts and culture but also provides a meaningful opportunity to share student creativity with the broader community.
- St Arnaud Secondary College - School Production
Their school production, Come Fly with Me, will be a dynamic, student-led musical theatre performance set within the lively environment of an airport hub. The project emphasises creativity, collaboration and cultural appreciation, providing students with opportunities to build confidence, develop communication skills, and engage in authentic performance experiences.
