Following on from the success of our Northern Gramps Girls Can campaign last year where council lit up exercise spaces in the early mornings, several of the shire’s sporting facilities are due to light up again in 2026. Between May 4 and September 30, spaces in Stawell and St Arnaud will light up from 6pm to 7.30pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and from 6am and 7am on Wednesday mornings.

Council undertakes the naming process and makes recommendations to Geographic Names Victoria on naming unnamed roads. Council also allocates rural addresses to rural residential properties to ensure the safe delivery of emergency services.
There are numerous rules and regulations governing the road naming process and the allocation of addresses for properties. An administrative fee of $230 applies if the rural property to be addressed is not residential.
If you have any questions about either service, please call us on 03 5358 8700 or email ngshire@ngshire.vic.gov.au, and we can walk you through what is involved and what can and cannot be done.
