Council has released its Advocacy Prospectus 2026 which outlines where the organisation will focus its advocacy efforts to state and federal governments, particularly in the lead-up to November’s State Election. Council will advocate for aged care services in the municipality to be transitioned to local service providers, namely Grampians Community Health and East Wimmera Health Service, following a decision made at the July council meeting in Stawell. There are no immediate changes to any services for current clients and no action required for now.
Council's new Arts and Culture Strategy presents a vision for the arts, culture and creativity in the shire that seeks to:
support opportunities for participation in arts and cultural activities to help connect our communities
support raising the profile of local artists and the arts community
enable the activation of town centres and rural communities
The strategy aims to promote inclusion, collaboration and participation in arts and cultural activities across the whole shire. It recognises the value of the arts in connecting our communities.
The strategy has been developed over the past 12 months in consultation with key stakeholders and community.
