Following on from the success of our Northern Gramps Girls Can campaign last year where council lit up exercise spaces in the early mornings, several of the shire’s sporting facilities are due to light up again in 2026. Between May 4 and September 30, spaces in Stawell and St Arnaud will light up from 6pm to 7.30pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and from 6am and 7am on Wednesday mornings.

A power outage occurs when there is a short or long term interruption to your gas and/or electricity supply.
During a power outage you may need to think of new ways to continue bathing, eating and keeping cool, especially during the warmer months.
Prepare an emergency kit before a power outage occurs to help stay safe and connected with people outside of your home. Ensure your emergency kit has torches, spare batteries, a mobile phone and charger, a battery powered or wind-up radio and fresh water.
Stay safe during a blackout by:
Switching off electrical appliances.
Only opening your fridge and freezer doors when absolutely necessary.
Moving food from the fridge to the freezer.
Unplugging ‘surge-sensitive’ equipment such as computers and laptop devices.
Keeping one light switched on so you know when the power returns.
Limiting water usage to prevent overloading power-dependent wastewater systems.
Signing up for text message updates from your electricity provider.
Turning on a battery-operated radio and listening to a local radio station for information.
Checking the power outage map via powercor.com.au/power-outages-andemergencies/live-outage-map.
Checking on your neighbours to see if they need assistance, particularly if they are elderly or have a disability.
