Following on from the success of our Northern Gramps Girls Can campaign last year where council lit up exercise spaces in the early mornings, several of the shire’s sporting facilities are due to light up again in 2026. Between May 4 and September 30, spaces in Stawell and St Arnaud will light up from 6pm to 7.30pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and from 6am and 7am on Wednesday mornings.

Our Community Care team delivers meals to residents in and around Stawell and St Arnaud every day between Monday to Friday, usually between 11.30am and 12.30pm.
This service is traditionally provided to those who are active on a Commonwealth Home Support Program through My Aged Care, or Home and a Community Care Program for Younger People which is accessible via applying to council directly, however is available to anyone in the community needing this type of support.
If you or someone you know needs meal preparation services, please contact our Community Care team to find out more by calling (03) 5358 0514 or by emailing community.care@ngshire.vic.gov.au.
Council has been fortunate to have a great group of local volunteers over the years who provide an hour or two each week to deliver meals to residents in both towns. In saying this, some of them are needing to take a step a back from their duties and even begin using the service themselves.
We're always welcoming new volunteers and encourage people to get in contact if they want to help. There is no commitment to providing ongoing support if you're not able, and no pressure to commitment to more than one shift per week.
It's a great opportunity for local businesses and their staff, with a bunch of local brands already part of our usual roster, and also parents who are looking for something to do with the little ones for an hour as they are more than welcome to come along too.
