Waste services fees and charges

Applicable from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.

You can find all the fees and charges relating to Northern Grampians Shire waste services, including rate levies and transfer station prices, in the list below.  

Please note, there are three transfer stations within the Northern Grampians Shire.

  • Halls Gap: council managed, located at 4300 Ararat-Halls Gap Road, Halls Gap (view map).
  • St Arnaud: council managed, located at 329 Old Wedderburn Road, St Arnaud (view map).
  • Stawell: managed by Wimmera Mallee Waste, located at 36 Lavett Road, Stawell (view map).

  • 120L waste bin and 240L recycling bin: $565.00 per year
  • Additional 120L waste service: $169.00 per year
  • Additional 240L recycling service: $194.00 per year
  • Lost/stolen bin delivery fee: $92.00 per 120L waste bin, $95.00 per 240L recycling bin

 

  • 120Lwheelie bin: $28.00 each
  • 240Lwheelie bin: $30.00 each
  • Sedan boot load: $26.00 each
  • Station wagon boot load: $27.00 each
  • Single axle trailer / ute (level): $34.00 each
  • Single axle trailer / ute (heaped): $41.00 each
  • Single axle trailer / ute (caged): $62.00 each
  • Tandem axle trailer (level): $75.00 each
  • Tandem axle trailer (heaped): $106.00 each
  • Tandem axle trailer (caged): $145.00 each
  • Clean soil: $202.00 per m3
  • Demolition and mechanically compacted waste: $65.00 per m3
  • Domestic/household waste: $41.00 per m3
  • Vehicle batteries: $13.00 each
  • Co-mingled (household) recyclables: $13.00 per load
  • Concrete: $41.00 per m3
  • Fridges, freezers and air conditioners: $42.00 each
  • Gas cylinders and fire extinguishers: $36.00 each
  • Mattress - any size: $50.00 each
  • Motor oil (max 20L): $18.00 each
  • Scrap metal: $13.00 per load
  • E-Waste: FREE
  • Polystyrene/Styrofoam FREE  
  • Tyres
  • Car: $35.00 each
  • Light truck/4WD: $36.00 each
  • Truck: $43.00 each
  • Tractor - small (<1m diameter): $145.00 each
  • Tractor - large (1-2m diameter): $264.00 each
  • DrumMUSTER (must be triple rinsed, dried and no lids): FREE (N/A at Halls Gap Transfer Station) 
  • BagMUSTER (must be clean and empty. Liners to be removed and folded or rolled): FREE (Only at St Arnaud Transfer Station)
