Major Tourism Events Partnership Program

The Major Tourism Events Partnership Program is an initiative designed to drive outcomes in council's Economic Development Strategy by providing direct financial or in-kind assistance to events in exchange for partnership benefits to the shire.

The program aims to:

  • Support existing major events that will help them to remain financially and operationally sustainable. Increase visitation and overnight spend in the Northern Grampians economy.
  • Attract unique attendance.
  • Raise awareness of Northern Grampians Shire towns as attractive places to live, work and invest.
  • Enhance the Discover Northern Grampians brand and marketing opportunities.
  • Foster community involvement and cohesion.
  • Activate Northern Grampians Shire public spaces through events.

Program requirements include:

  • Applications are being accepted between August 25 and September 19, 2025. Note, applications are now closed.
  • To lodge an application, you must contact council and enquire about making an application. Our team will assist with ensuring this funding stream is appropriate for your event. They will then provide an online submission link. 
  • Funding can be between $5000 and $50,000. 
  • Partnership agreements will be in place for a maximum of three years.
  • This year's application agreements will commence in the 2025-26 financial year.

Eligibility

Eligibility criteria

Participation in this program is by invitation only to events that meets the following criteria:  

  • Existing Northern Grampians Shire Council event that helps council deliver on KPIs of the Economic Development Strategy.
  • Event that showcases the shire's point of difference/unique selling points.
  • Demonstrate positive relationships with the community.
  • Attract or has the potential to attract more than 1,000 patrons.
  • Has Public Liability Insurance (of at least $20 million) for the duration of the event.
  • Be a legal incorporated entity with an ABN or Registration Number.
  • Demonstrate effective governance and management structures.
  • Has a track record of successfully running events or demonstrate that the organisation has the capability to run a successful event.
  • Be a public event inclusive and accessible to everyone.
