Homeschooling

Families across the Northern Grampians region will be delighted to see the end of homeschooling for the term.

Under Step 3 of the Roadmap to COVID Normal, schools across the region will recommence on site learning in staggered stages from the beginning of Term Four, Monday 5 October. Families should be in touch with their child’s school for further information as schools can stagger the return of year levels, depending on the local situation.

These school holidays, unlike any others, we encourage our Northern Grampians residents to travel to other regional areas and also invite other regional Victorians here.

At the local level, some activities shire residents might like to consider include getting out and about in our region’s beautiful parks and gardens and natural environment and supporting our local hospitality and retail outlets.

There will be daily holiday activities posted on Northern Grampians Shire Council social media pages. Please follow to stay informed.

For young readers, Stawell and St Arnaud Libraries have online Storytime and Storytime activity packs available for pickup.

For our community’s safety, it is essential to remember four key points to practise over the holidays: keep your distance, wear a mask, be kind and follow public health advice regarding hygiene.

Northern Grampians Shire Council CEO, Liana Thompson,  was extremely grateful to shire teachers and school staff, families and carers for their tenacity during this challenging period.

“I have no doubt everyone who has been involved in the homeschooling experience this term will be looking forward to a break”, she said.

“It is no easy task for students to learn away from peers and their familiar education system and everyone has done a tremendous job under the circumstances.”

“There may not be many of the usual holiday activities on offer this spring but we can still visit a myriad of beautiful areas in the shire and other regional areas of Victoria and catch up with friends and family according to restriction guidelines.”

“Don’t forget many online forms of entertainment are also on offer within the shire too.”

Further information about Coronavirus restrictions or School Holiday activities is available by calling our In It Together Hotline on 03 5358 8700.
