Our Swim and Survive program is delivered by qualified swim teachers who ensure that essential water safety, personal survival and basic rescue skills are taught to all enrolled students. Our teachers make lessons fun, while helping all participants develop a strong and effective swimming techniques.
Swim and Survive is a water safety initiative provided by Royal Life Saving Victoria and designed to increase swimming and water safety skills of all Australian children in order to prevent drowning and increase participation in safe aquatic activity.
SSAC was proud to be acknowledged as their 2024 Swim & Survive Partner of the Year.
Learn to swim, swimming lessons, and infant aquatics are all terms commonly used across the aquatic industry for programs that seek to build swimming skills. Swim and Survive is all of these, but most importantly it provides a level of protection for children by helping to equip them with solid foundation skills in swimming, survival and basic rescue.
The Little Wonder program is for infants and preschoolers. The program allows students to learn skills that align with motor skills learnt at each development age.
Little Wonder | Level 1: water familiarisation program for parents and their children aged 6 months to 12 months.
Little Wonder | Level 2: water familiarisation program for parents and their children aged 1 to 2 years.
Little Wonder | Level 3: water familiarisation program for parents and their children aged 2 to 3 years.
Little Wonder | Level 4: transitional class for children aged 3 to 4 years.

The Learn to Swim program is for children aged 4 years and above. The students in this program will work through Levels 1 - 12.
We also offer a squad program; the squad class is a one-hour long session and is for any student that has completed Level 7 and above in our program.

We provide Learn to Swim programs for adults on request. Please reach out to us via leisure.services@ngshire.vic.gov.au for further information.
Our facilities provide a variety of programs specially designed for local schools. Programs can be custom designed to cater for each school's need. The classes can be organised at SSAC year-round or at the St Arnaud seasonal pool throughout the summer months. We currently deliver a Gentle Aqua Class on Monday's and Thursday's at 10.30am which are delivered by our personal trainers, Penny and Jo.
Water Aerobics classes are currently delivered on a Thursday at 6.10pm which is delivered by Penny.
Our facility features a 15-meter heated indoor pool and separate spa which are open year-round. During the summer months, being November - March, we also operate our 25-meter heated outdoor pool which includes two water slides and a separate heated toddler pool. The outdoor pool is also surrounded by lush grassy hills to relax and supervise your children from.
The outdoor pool is now open for the 2024/25 season.

Monday: 6am to 11am, 12.30pm to 1.30pm is our quiet hour (no lap swimmers), 1.30pm to 7pm
Tuesday to Friday: 6am to 11am, 1.30pm to 7pm
Saturday: 9am to 1pm
Sunday:1pm to 5pm
OUTDOOR POOL
Monday to Friday: 6am to 9am, 4pm to 7pm
Weather Policies
Hot Weather: this is based on the 5pm weather forecast on the day prior to opening. If this forecast predicts 35 degrees or over for the following day, the outdoor pool hours will be:
Please note the extended hours will be at the discretion of the Duty Manager at the time and will also depend on patronage availability of lifeguards depending on the hours they have already worked.
Cold Weather: this is also based on the 5pm weather forecast on the day prior to opening. If this forecast predicts 24 degrees or less the following day, the outdoor pool will only be open for early morning lap swimming on Monday to Friday between 6am to 9am and will be closed on the weekends.
