Stawell Sports & Aquatic Centre Redevelopment

Step 1.Stage 1: SSAC Feasibility and Master plan Project funding secured - Completed 

Support through the State Government Community Sports Infrastructure Planning fund and council secured to undertake the feasibility and master plan project.

State Government funding received: $30,000

Northern Grampians Shire Council contribution: $15,000

Total cost: $45,000

Step 2.Stage 2: SSAC Feasibility and Master plan Project consultancy appointment - Completed

Council has partnered with @leisure planners, one of Australia’s most influential sport, leisure and open space consultancies. In partnership, it is critical that financial, social and environmental objectives are met throughout the project.

Step 3.Stage 3: Project community engagement - Completed 

In partnership with @leisure, council is now undertaking a significant community engagement process.

Consultation with the community and user groups of the facility will ensure all the community have an opportunity to provide their thoughts and vision to inform the design process. Throughout this stage, information will be gathered to identify community needs, determine participation projections, program and service opportunities and infrastructure improvements.

All community members are invited to participate in this engagement opportunity through the following activities:

Step 4.Stage 4: SSAC Feasibility and Master plan Project draft plan - Future

Step 5.Stage 5: SSAC Feasibility and Master plan Project draft plan endorsement - Future

Stage 6: Detailed facility redevelopment design - Future

Following the endorsement of the master plan, council will seek to progress the project to appoint an appropriate architect to lead the detailed design of the facility redevelopment. 

The timing of this stage is dependent on funding. Council’s advocacy strategy and 10 year capital infrastructure plan drive the aim of undertaking this stage in 2021. 

Stage 7: Facility redevelopment - Future

Following stage 6, council will include the project in the priority projects advocacy strategy, and will work heavily over a number of years to secure funding to undertake the redevelopment.
