With the Project Steering Committee appointed for the Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan, 2021-31 and initial meetings held, work is underway to build an evidence base for the strategy. Desktop analysis and investigation to date has provided insight into industry performance, COVID-19 impacts, and economic trends. “The investigation and analysis phase is about understanding the make-up of our economy and community pre COVID-19, and what impact COVID-19 is having,” Northern Grampians Shire Council CEO Lianna Thompson said. “Findings from the data and document review have been compiled as a starting point, we expect that the real insight will come through engaging with industry sectors and the wider community” CEO Lianna Thompson added. To do this, the committee is inviting local residents, business owners and employees to contribute towards the qualitative research process by filling out the Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan 2021-31 Business and Community questionnaire online. People are also invited to register their interest in a one-on-one interview with the project manager. The findings of the research will help inform the committee when drafting the strategy. Later the committee will invite the community to provide feedback on the draft strategy. A questionnaire has been developed and interviews will be undertaken to better understand Northern Grampians Shire’s distinctive assets, economic conditions, and opportunities. “Local involvement will allow the committee to deliver a workable and locally-owned strategy,” CEO Liana Thompson said. Navigate to the 'Have Your Say' webpage to fill out the online questionnaire (closing October 14th) and/or register your interest in participating in a one-on-one interview to provide your insights. The more feedback we can obtain, the better the strategy will be.
