Council has four funding streams open for applications for eligible community, sporting and not-for-profit groups with suitable event, initiative or project ideas. Our Community Events Grant, Minor Support Grant, Community Events Sponsorship and Community Sponsorship are open until all available funds have been allocated.

A Minor Support Grant is available to not-for-profit groups and organisations to help fund one-off activities or initiatives that are simple, practical, and quick to implement.
Applications for Minor Support Grants can be up to $700. Funding can support a range of practical needs, activities and initiatives that benefit your group or the broader community. Where possible, we encourage activities to be undertaken within three months of receiving the funding.
The funding is open throughout the year while funds remain available.
There are no set objectives for the grant. Instead, we ask you to explain how the funding will benefit your group, your members or the broader Northern Grampians community.
Before submitting your application, please take a few minutes to read the Minor Support Guidelines. They provide important information about the purpose of the grant, what the funds can be used for, and the application and assessment process.

Last year, Minor Support Grants provided $3460 to help local groups turn ideas into action, purchase equipment, support activities and meet practical needs that make a positive difference to their members and the wider community.
St Arnaud Brass Band celebrated their 150th Anniversary and used the funding for printing of the commemorative booklet and catering support at the celebratory event.
St Arnaud Secondary College celebrated R U OK? and Footy Colors Day by holding a joint Secondary and Primary school community event that encourages connection, participation and conversations about wellbeing.
GLOW Halls Gap purchased specialised lighting to enhance the GLOW Festival experience and contribute to a vibrant community event.
St Arnaud Historical Society hired a bus to showcase St Arnaud and surrounding attractions to delegates attending the Western Victorian Historical Society Zone meeting.
St Arnaud Netball Club funded entertainment at the Club’s annual Pink Day fundraiser, helping create an engaging community event while raising funds for a worthy cause.
