Community Events Grant

A Community Event is considered a smaller local event with the primary purpose of celebrating and connecting the local community 

We are looking for events and activities that help bring our community together in at least one of the following ways:

  • Build connection and belonging: Bring people together, create connections and help people feel a sense of belonging.
  • Celebrate our community: Celebrate local culture, diversity, history, people and places.
  • Celebrate important occasions: Support civic, cultural and ceremonial events that are meaningful to our community.
  • Encourage participation and supporting local causes: Create opportunities for people to get involved, volunteer, fundraise and support local groups and causes.

Eligible groups can apply for up to $1500. Applications are open throughout the year until all available funding has been allocated.

Who can apply

You can apply for community event funding if your group or organisation is:

  • A registered not-for-profit group or organisation with an Incorporation Certificate and/or an ABN. If your group/organisation has neither of these an organisation that does can support you as the legal entity.
  • Based in the Northern Grampians Shire.

Things to know before applying 

Before submitting your application, please take a few minutes to read the Community Event Grant Guidelines. They provide important information about the purpose of the grant, what the funds can be used for, and the application and assessment process.

We would love to hear about your event and what you hope to achieve. Tell us what you are planning, who it will bring together, and how this funding could help make your event a success by completing the Community Event Grant Application.

A team member from the Community Development Team will be in touch within two weeks of your submission to update you on the status of your application. 

Local events supported in the 2025/26 financial year

  • Central Grampians Local Learning Network held an end of year celebration for volunteers and students for the MATES Northern Grampians program.  

  • Navarre Historical Society held the annual Australia Day celebration, an opportunity for the Navarre community to come together and celebrate its local history and community spirit. 

  • Grampians Multicultural Hub held a Harmony Day Festival event showcasing a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity, inclusion and community connection with dance, costumes, food and cultural activities. 

  • Paradise Hall Committee held the Family Easter Eggstravaganza event that brought local families together at the Paradise Hall. 

  • Stawell Orchid Society held the Orchid Society’s first Orchid Seminar, providing an opportunity for people to learn, connect, and share their interest in orchids and gardening. 

  • Stuart Mill Progress Association held a Community Christmas Gathering bringing residents together to celebrate and connect. 

  • Glenorchy Memorial Hall Committee held a Community Good Friday appeal which is the towns biggest event of the year.  

  • Stawell Railway Station Art Gallery used funding to contribute towards the 150 years Anniversary of Official Opening of the Stawell Railway Station.
