Council will advocate for aged care services in the municipality to be transitioned to local service providers, namely Grampians Community Health and East Wimmera Health Service, following a decision made at the July council meeting in Stawell. There are no immediate changes to any services for current clients and no action required for now.
Northern Grampians Shire Council has initiated a review of how it can best support older residents throughout the Northern Grampians area to remain healthy and independent into the future. A survey is available online for residents to submit their experiences, thoughts, and ideas and we are looking to hear from community care service users, their families, carers and other interested parties.
The council has long-provided support services for older residents and other people who require support to live at home and remains committed to ensuring that quality support services are available to residents. This independent review is expected to provide crucial guidance on community needs and the information that is collected will be used to develop a strategic direction for the future role of the council.
The idea of the review is to ensure that we gain a clear understanding of the broader health and well-being needs of older people and other residents who require council support.
The review will assist us to make informed decisions about how best to continue to support our older residents, and anyone else in need of this important support, to remain living independently and safely in their own homes.
Please take the time to participate in this independent review into our community care services. To design a program for the future, it is important that we hear from all our community care service users, their families, carers and other interested parties. We appreciate the time that it takes to complete our online survey and would like to thank you in advance for your participation.
We would like to invite you to attend an informative Community Consultation Lunch to explore how we can best support older residents to remain healthy and independent into the future.
