Facilitated by Michelle Richards from RMT Consulting, the session will provide participants with the opportunity to:

  • Explore how emergencies impact the community and why the ability to self-activate is critical during a response.

  • Learn how emergency management operates in Victoria, including the roles of different agencies and what this means for communities during the early stages of an emergency when resources may be stretched.

  • Identify key challenges for St Arnaud, particularly in relation to floods and fires.

  • Take part in an asset mapping exercise to identify critical community assets, essential infrastructure, and local resources that can support emergency response efforts.

  • Set local priorities by identifying needs, concerns, and actions that are specific to the community.
