Following on from the success of our Northern Gramps Girls Can campaign last year where council lit up exercise spaces in the early mornings, several of the shire’s sporting facilities are due to light up again in 2026. Between May 4 and September 30, spaces in Stawell and St Arnaud will light up from 6pm to 7.30pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and from 6am and 7am on Wednesday mornings.

The Watta Wella Renewable Energy Project will consist of a co-located wind farm and battery storage system.
The project is proposed on 4850 hectares of land about 16 kilometres north-east of Stawell, Victoria.
RES says as well as providing local jobs and procurement opportunities, the project will generate renewable energy to power up to 200,000 Victorian homes and offset about one-million tonnes of C02, contributing to Victorian Renewable Energy Targets.
RES is committed to supporting the regional communities that host its renewable energy projects. It is seeking feedback from the community to understand local needs and preferred options for benefit sharing programs.
The drop-in community information sessions will provide an opportunity for people to meet the project team and learn more about the project. Waacks Bakery will provide the catering.
A February project update, which includes information and a link for expressions of interest to join a consultative committee, is available here.(PDF, 3MB)
