Arts and Culture Grant

Council's Arts and Culture Grants support projects and initiatives that contribute towards outcomes that result in:

  • An inclusive creative community, through participation, or
  • A well-respected and connected arts community, through raising the profile of arts and culture, or
  • Activated town centres and rural communities, through the celebration of place.

Grant priorities and focus

The 2026 Arts and Culture Grants Program will have a participation, visibility and activation focus.

The grants, in line with the program outcomes, aim to support capacity building and community-led initiatives that:

1. Participation - Strengthen social connection and community belonging through arts and culture.

  • Supporting creative projects, workshops and activities that bring people together, foster positive relationships, and help community members feel more connected and included.
  • Example initiatives could be but are not limited to writing or other creative workshops, performances, exhibitions.

2. Visibility - Strengthen visibility of arts and culture across the shire.

  • Supporting projects and initiatives that strengthen the visibility of arts and culture across the shire.
  • Example initiatives could be but are not limited to signage, social media training, initiatives relating to the promotion of arts and culture events, activities, places and spaces.

3. Activation - Activate places and spaces.

  • Supporting creative projects, workshops and activities that activate places and spaces across the shire.
  • Example initiatives could be but are not limited to public art installations, arts and culture events, and creative workshops.

Please note: Public art installations would be subject to review by the council's Public Art Review process.


Available funding 

Applications for Arts and Culture Grants can be up to the value of $5000. 


You can apply for a sponsorship if:

  1. You are a registered not-for-profit group or organisation with either an Incorporation Certificate and/or an ABN.
  2. You are based in or can demonstrate your request has a direct benefit to the residents of Northern Grampians Shire.

You will find out more about what is available, who can apply and how the process works. You can also speak with a member of council's Community Development team to ensure you are applying for the most suitable funding option before submitting your application.

Applications received after 5pm on March 31, 2026 are unable to be considered.


Assessment process

Applications will be reviewed, assessed and processed in early April 2026. Applicants can expect to be notified before the end of April 2026.
