Following on from the success of our Northern Gramps Girls Can campaign last year where council lit up exercise spaces in the early mornings, several of the shire’s sporting facilities are due to light up again in 2026. Between May 4 and September 30, spaces in Stawell and St Arnaud will light up from 6pm to 7.30pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and from 6am and 7am on Wednesday mornings.
The Kooreh Memorial Hall stands tall as the Kooreh districts hub and emergency evacuation centre. Built by local volunteers as a memorial to the Soldiers of the Boer War and First World War.
The hall is made of brick and render. There is a stage and good seating, within the hall there are framed pictures of the halls history and written historical information. There is also a community trophy cabinet and a local Landcare display cabinet. The hall is very well maintained and hosts local community events.
The hall has a committee of management who volunteer their time to ensure the hall is maintained for generations to come, and who celebrated the hall's centenary in April 2023.
