Following on from the success of our Northern Gramps Girls Can campaign last year where council lit up exercise spaces in the early mornings, several of the shire’s sporting facilities are due to light up again in 2026. Between May 4 and September 30, spaces in Stawell and St Arnaud will light up from 6pm to 7.30pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and from 6am and 7am on Wednesday mornings.

New Swimming Pool Aquatic and Changeroom Redevelopment funds a huge win for the people of St Arnaud.
The Northern Grampians Shire Council is very excited to announce that it was successful in obtaining a $1.94 million grant from the State Government to complete the St Arnaud Pool Redevelopment through the Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.
Council investment to this significant project is $650,000 resulting in a $2.6 million project providing the St Arnaud community with a modern, accessible, and inclusive aquatic facility.
“The St Arnaud Swimming Pool Aquatic and Changeroom Redevelopment Project is a huge win for the people of St Arnaud,” Northern Grampians Shire Mayor, Cr. Haswell said.
“We are always optimistic with grant submissions, but the outcome is never certain. This was a very competitive fund and staff did an excellent job putting our case forward.
“On completion, the St. Arnaud community will have access to modern changerooms with upgraded shower and toilet facilities; new tiling and painting of pools; and an upgraded administration/first aid and kiosk area,” Cr Haswell added.
A crucial element of this project is Northern Grampians Shire Council ability to support health, well-being, and social inclusion among residents with these upgraded recreational amenities including a new access ramp to the pool.
The pool will be open as usual in the summer of 2024 with works commencing at the end of the swimming pool season in 2025.
