Northern Grampians Shire Council is seeking tenders from qualified and experienced commercial builders for the design and construction of a multi purpose sporting facility at Lord Nelson Park in St Arnaud.

This long-awaited project will bring the facilities at Lord Nelson Park up to the required standards for AFL, netball, hockey and other types of sporting and community use such as harness racing and the agricultural society. This project will also deliver a new commercial kitchen and indoor and outdoor social spaces.

A key feature of the project will be the new unisex sports change rooms and the establishment of female-friendly change facilities.
Umpire facilities will also be significantly improved and allow for mixed gender umpiring teams. There will also be trainer/First Aid rooms and rooms with all abilities access.

This tender process will have two stages; stage one is the design of the Lord Nelson Park Multipurpose Sporting Facility and stage two will be the construction of the facility.

Councillor for Kara Kara ward and Chair of the St Arnaud Recreation Advisory Group, Cr Merrilee Reid, is pleased to see this project reach the tender stage.

“This project has been developed in close consultation with St Arnaud Recreation Advisory Group and Sport and Recreation Victoria and we look forward to seeing improvements to this important asset,” she said.

“The Lord Nelson Park precinct users have been key contributors in the development of an initial concept and informed us of the space requirements necessary for the sports and events we run in the precinct. This information has formed the basis for the design and construction process to ensure we are delivering a modern and accessible facility for the long term.”

“We acknowledge that this project would not have been conceivable without the generous funding received from the AFL and state and federal governments and there will be far-reaching benefits to the St Arnaud community upon completion of the project.”

The tender will be awarded in late September after council has evaluated the tender submissions.
Tenders close at 2pm on Wednesday 19 August 2020.

Completed responses must be submitted via the electronic tender box. The tender documents are available for download at www.ngshire.vic.gov.au/tenders under the reference RFT C5 2020/21.
