February Council Meeting news bites

Published on 08 February 2022

Northern Grampians Shire Council held its council meeting on Monday, 7 February 2022 via Teams at 12:30pm and resolved a number of matters including:

Quarterly Council Action Plan Report

Council noted the status of projects in the Quarterly Council Action Plan Report and approved the forecast plan. It was noted by councillors that the action list is extensive and delays to some of the actions in the plan have been caused by circumstances such as Covid that are beyond council’s control. By and large, the report was received by council as positive and showing promising advances in critical actions. Some of the stated delays were deemed to be reasonable and consequently the report was approved.

Recreation Advisory Group members appointed and adoption of Terms of Reference

Council adopted the Terms of Reference and approved the appointment of members to the respective recreation advisory groups of Stawell and St Arnaud. The groups are formed from user groups attached to the main recreation reserves in each town: St Arnaud Recreation Advisory Group has members from Lord Nelson Park and Stawell Recreation Advisory Group consists of members from Central Park and North Park to ensure that decisions are made equitably. The groups will be providing recommendations to council on ways to increase participation and re-activate recreational spaces so that they may thrive post COVID-19.

The Stawell Recreation Advisory Group terms have been modified to include Cr Lauren Dempsey as an additional councillor representative.

Appointment of Senior Planning Officer

Council approved the appointment of Ms Jade Erwin who will serve as Senior Planning Officer for council in accordance with the Planning and Environment Act 1987.

Stawell Grampians Caravan Park New Lease

Council has approved to initiate the process to enter into a new 21-year lease with the current tenants of the Stawell Grampians Gate Caravan Park.

Outcome of Closed Council Section

Council considered the contract for the provision of street cleaning services in camera and has awarded the services to Above All Cleaning Services Victoria Pty Ltd.
