What is it?
Redevelopment of the aquatic component of Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre, including a 25-metre indoor pool with accessible entry ramp, new change facilities, plant room upgrades and improvements to reception/foyer areas.
Why is it needed?
The existing aquatic facilities are ageing and do not meet current community demand or contemporary accessibility expectations. The centre currently has a 15m pool that services more than 500 learn-to-swim participants in addition to broader community use. The pool does not provide accessible entry via a ramp.
Existing change facilities are non-compliant and are not co-located with the pool hall, reducing amenity and operational efficiency.
The ask
The total estimated project cost is $29,149,226. Council has made a commitment of $5,445,441 towards the project with the remaining amount split equally between State and Federal Governments, totalling $11,851.893 each.
Update on 19/10/2026: following the election commitment from Emma Kealy today of $8 million should the coalition form government, the advocacy ask would likely change for the Federal Government.
