Following on from the success of our Northern Gramps Girls Can campaign last year where council lit up exercise spaces in the early mornings, several of the shire’s sporting facilities are due to light up again in 2026. Between May 4 and September 30, spaces in Stawell and St Arnaud will light up from 6pm to 7.30pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and from 6am and 7am on Wednesday mornings.

HELP PROTECT THE RIGHTS OF PEOPLE WITH A DISABILITY
Do you want to make a difference to the lives of people in your local community?
The Office of the Public Advocate is looking for people to volunteer as Community Visitors and Independent Third Persons.
Community Visitors are the eyes and ears of the community. They safeguard and uphold the human rights of people with disabilities by visiting accommodation facilities and monitoring and reporting on the adequacy of the services being provided.
Independent Third Persons attend police interviews for adults and young people with disability to ensure that they are not disadvantaged during the interview process.
Training and reimbursement of expenses are provided.
