Part of council's role within the community is to design, develop and maintain a variety of infrastructure assets such as roads, bridges and land reserves.
In order to ensure our team has appropriate insight and reference materials during critical design phases, we sometimes need to collect data of the area to capture appropriate information. This sometimes includes the use of photography and activities conducted both on land and in the sky.
One of council's methods to obtain birds-eye vantage points of reference is to deploy drones into an area to capture appropriate data. Whilst our operators adhere to all Civil Aviation Safety Authority rules and regulations, extra care is taken to respect privacy including avoiding areas where data isn't needed and flying at a minimum of 100m above ground level which means people are not identifiable should they be captured.
