Northern Grampians Shire residents can influence council's 2026/27 budget by reviewing and providing feedback on the proposed council plan year two priorities. This process is different from previous years where residents traditionally had an opportunity to provide submissions to a draft budget. Feedback closes at 4pm Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Onsite wastewater systems require periodic maintenance and care as they have limited capacity and lifespan.
Too many users on the system, lack of maintenance, damage to the system by cultivation, traffic or stock, or general wear and tear may cause the system to fail and wastewater to leak out to the surface of the ground or into a waterway. If this happens to your system, it will be time to repair or upgrade it.
No permit is required for a repair of your current system but if your system requires a new effluent system or an upgrade, you will need a permit to install and you may need to relocate the system to your reserve area, set aside at the time of the first installation for future expansion or upgrades to the system.
If your neighbour's wastewater is leaking, you may be noticing a very unpleasant odour or boggy areas seeping onto your land or into the street. You can notify your neighbour directly and ask them to fix it, or alternatively you can report the problem to council and we will investigate it for you.
