At December's council meeting in St Arnaud, council resolved to review future community care service options in light of sweeping aged care sector reforms. All of Victoria will enter a seven day Circuit Breaker Lockdown tonight at 11.59pm in an effort to curb the spread of Coronavirus cases occurring in our State. Victorian State Government Acting Premier James Merlino made the announcement today; Northern Grampians Shire will be subject to the lockdown conditions.
To keep our shire safe we strongly advise our community to follow the directives strictly and stay home.
There are only five reasons to leave home during lockdown:
NGSC Mayor, Cr Murray Emerson wants everyone in the shire to stay at home where possible and to be fastidious with hygiene measures when out in public – wear a mask, wash hands regularly and stay 1.5m apart.
“We can do this. We’ve been through several lockdowns already and know how effective they are at stopping the spread of Coronavirus,” Cr Emerson stated.
“This lockdown is for seven days but that time period may be reduced by the State Government if case numbers fall rapidly and we can get the upper hand on the virus’ spread.
“The most important message to the community right now is to get vaccinated. The vaccine is the most effective defence against Coronavirus; if you are eligible for it, I strongly encourage you to organise this through your GP, Stawell Regional Health East Wimmera Health Service. All the information you need for local Coronavirus information is on our website.”
