NAIDOC Week is an annual recognition held across Australia during the first week of July running from Sunday to Sunday. It provides an opportunity for all Australians to learn more about First Nations cultures and histories while participating in community events and celebrations of the oldest continuous living cultures on earth.
The National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) is the organisation that oversees NAIDOC Week, celebrating the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia.
The following activities are taking place across the shire over the week, however please be aware that some are closed events for students, parents or mob, while others are open to the community.
Libraries in St Arnaud and Stawell have book displays, themed Storytime sessions, colouring and craft options available during the week. Feature books include Fast Fish, Super Snake and Moli Bin Git Stak (Molly Gets Stuck). Find out more about the libraries opening hours and location on council's website, here.
