Following on from the success of our Northern Gramps Girls Can campaign last year where council lit up exercise spaces in the early mornings, several of the shire’s sporting facilities are due to light up again in 2026. Between May 4 and September 30, spaces in Stawell and St Arnaud will light up from 6pm to 7.30pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and from 6am and 7am on Wednesday mornings.

To celebrate National Volunteer Week this year, council is joining forces with Central Grampians LLEN, Grampians Community Health and East Wimmera Health Service to launch - My Year to Volunteer, a campaign that recognises our amazing local volunteers and celebrates the vital role they play in building stronger, more connected, and inclusive communities.
When women and girls stand equal, families are stronger, workplaces are fairer, communities thrive and society becomes safer for everyone. This International Women's Day on Sunday, March 8, let's Balance the Scales and celebrate women and girls across Northern Grampians Shire.
Balance the Scales is a promise that every woman and girl – regardless of background or identity – should be safe, heard, and free to shape their own lives. Yet in 2026, too many across Australia and the world are still denied that fair go. Discriminatory laws, policies, and practices persist. Gender-based violence remains widespread, and structural barriers block too many from seeking or receiving justice.
These barriers are not inevitable. They are built – and they can be dismantled. Equality is not about advantage for some; it's about dignity, safety, and fairness for all.
Join us at any of the following activities to celebrate International Women's Day between Sunday, March 8 and Saturday, March 14, 2026 inclusive.
Activities are available in both Stawell and St Arnaud
