Community Event Sponsorship
Council’s Community Event Sponsorship supports events that bring our communities to life, attract visitors, showcase our unique places and experiences, and create positive benefits for local communities and businesses.
Applications are open year-round while funding is available, with eligible groups able to apply for up to $3000.
Why we support events
Council uses Event Sponsorships to support events that deliver significant community, economic and tourism benefits. This approach enables Council to:
- Build long-term partnerships with event organisers.
- Support events that have a strong impact on the community and local economy.
- Promote the Northern Grampians Shire as a destination to live, work and visit.
- Help grow events that strengthen community identity and showcase the region.
The difference your event can make
We’re looking to support events that contribute to the following community outcomes:
- Stronger community connections and a greater sense of belonging through opportunities for people to come together and build community pride.
- Increased participation and visitation, attracting people from across and beyond the Northern Grampians Shire.
- Greater awareness and appreciation of the Northern Grampians’ unique places, people, culture, heritage and experiences.
- Stronger partnerships and collaboration between community groups, businesses and organisations.
- Increased skills, experience and connections among local event organisers, supporting the sustainability and growth of community events.
- A more vibrant year-round community calendar with increased opportunities for people to connect, participate and visit throughout the year.
Who can apply
- Registered not-for-profit groups or organisations with either an Incorporation Certificate and/or an ABN.
- A group or organisation who is based in the shire or can demonstrate the request has a direct benefit to the residents of Northern Grampians Shire.

Events we proudly supported in the 2025/26 financial year

St Arnaud Turf Club received funding to support event costs for the Weir’s IGA St Arnaud Cup Day in October 2025, a major local event for the community. The Discover Northern Grampians brand was showcased through signage at the finish line, promotions in the race-day booklet, and use in television and print media.

Stawell Lions Club received in-kind support to access the Stawell Town Hall, helping the Lions Club host its District Convention and welcome visitors to the community. The Mayor was invited to speak at the opening, and council was heavily promoted as a sponsor.

Stawell Racing Club received sponsorship to support the delivery of the Stawell Christmas Race Meeting and Stawell Gold Cup, contributing to event costs and supporting two significant racing events on the local calendar, while using Discover Northern Grampians collateral in signage and other promotional opportunities.
