Student placements and work experience

We offer structured work placements to university students which provide the opportunity to work in their specialised field under the supervision of a council officer.

We can offer placement in the following areas:

  • Accounting
  • Information technology
  • Planning and development
  • Engineering
  • Environmental health
  • Regulatory services
  • Children’s services
  • Maternal and child health services

Unfortunately, we cannot satisfy all requests for work placements. However, we attempt to place as many students as we can. To apply, please provide us with the following information:

Northern Grampians Shire Council works closely with the Wimmera Development Association to support the Wimmera Internship Program. Visit the Wimmera Development Association website for more information.

We also offer work experience opportunities to local high school students in Years 9 and 10. Students should contact our HR team directly to enquire about opportunities by calling 03 5358 8700.
