The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on our behaviours, attitudes, and influence in regards to respect in our own lives and in our role as community leaders.

As councillors for the Northern Grampians Shire Council, we have a responsibility to lead through words and actions and take a stand against violence in our communities.

It is our job to work and enact changes in our region that make our towns and our shire a safe place to live, love, work, and travel - that is our pledge to you as citizens of the place we all call home.

Our pledge as councillors is to listen, learn, and take action to stand against violence and do what we can to ensure services and assistance is available for all who need it in our region.

Our pledge as councillors is to ensure as community leaders we take a zero-tolerance approach to any form of violence or disrespect in our workplaces, homes, and around the region.

Our pledge as councillors is to speak up and speak out against disrespectful language, violent actions, and any form of behaviour that belittles or harms others.

Our pledge as councillors is to fight for equality of all the different walks of life that have come together to make their home in the Northern Grampians Shire.

Our pledge as councillors is to foster respect for women in our homes, workplaces, and in the community to end disrespectful behaviours that can lead to violence towards women and girls.

This is our pledge to you and, we hope, during the #NGSC16Days campaign that all our constituents take time to reflect and make a similar pledge to themselves to take a stand and improve our shire for everyone.
