Council has released its Advocacy Prospectus 2026 which outlines where the organisation will focus its advocacy efforts to state and federal governments, particularly in the lead-up to November’s State Election. The document is designed to ensure a relevant, targeted and coordinated approach to advocacy. Find out more about the priorities by clicking the link below.

Council will advocate for aged care services in the municipality to be transitioned to local service providers, namely Grampians Community Health and East Wimmera Health Service, following a decision made at the July council meeting in Stawell. There are no immediate changes to any services for current clients and no action required for now.
As part of our broader 2025-29 Council Plan community engagement process and following the conclusion of the Community Engagement Survey we conducted in February, we are planning to host a series of discussion forums in central townships across the shire where members of the community can come together to discuss key themes and insights presented through the survey.
While a survey mechanism is great for obtaining insights on a large scale, it is important we include appropriate context and validation discussions to support these insights and ensure Council fully understands the direction provided by the community. It is also a great opportunity to dig a little deeper and expand on certain insights.
If you are interested in taking part in this face-to-face opportunity in Halls Gap, please register your attendance below for catering purposes. We look forward to seeing you there.
