Walk against family violence | Stawell and St Arnaud

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence was started by activists at the inauguration of the Women's Global Leadership Insititute in 1991. Three decades on, it is a widely recognised global campaign that encourages action to end gender-based violence.

During this time, organisations such as council and individuals from around the world raise awareness that men’s violence against women is a fundamental violation of human rights.

The 16 Days of Activism two-week period is a key part of communities’ efforts to prevent violence against women in Victoria. It is embodied by a grassroots spirit and the collaborative approach is rolled out uniquely across the state. It begins on Tuesday, November 25 and concludes on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

Join council and our partners on two walks which aim to encourage our community to find ways in their everyday lives to promote gender equity and say no to violence against women. We would love to see as many people as possible wearing the colour orange too!

St Arnaud

When: Tuesday, November 25, 2025 starting at 12pm. 

Where: Starting at Queen Mary Gardens on Kings Avenue and walking to Market Square on Market Street. 

Stawell 

When: Wednesday, December 10, 2025 starting at 12pm.

Where: Starting at the Town Hall on Main Street and walking to Grampians Community Health (GCH) on Patrick Street. 

There will be guest speakers saying a few words at the beginning of each walk and a BBQ at the end, so we encourage people to stick around afterwards. RSVPs are required for catering purposes so please click below to add your details. And don't forget to wear something orange if you can.
