Recovery - 2024 Grampians Bushfires

Northern Grampians Shire Council is here to help residents affected by the bushfire which ignited on December 17, 2024 following a lightning strike near Yarram Gap Road in Gariwerd (Grampians National Park).

Council will be the key contact for support and recovery for Northern Grampians Shire residents and impacted businesses. Council is finalising the Recovery Plan alongside the Municipal Recovery Committee and is working side-by-side with the community and partners including Regional Development Victoria, Emergency Recovery Victoria, Parks Victoria, Grampians Wimmera Mallee Tourism and our neighbouring councils.

This page contains a range of support information and links that are updated as further information comes to hand. We also encourage residents and businesses to review the content posted by VicEmergency on their Recovery and Recovery hub which also includes helpful links to organisations involved in recovery efforts.

Halls Gap reopened to visitors on Wednesday, January 8. Many areas of Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park are now open. To find out what's open in the Grampians post-summer fires, visit the Parks Victoria website here.
