An important function of any council is to advocate on behalf of the community to state and federal governments on the big issues that affect them. Throughout the 2019/20 calendar years, council has adopted an extremely targeted advocacy strategy with a focus on forming partnerships with the state and federal governments to deliver community led priorities.

This has quickly delivered results with record funding secured towards a number of council and community-led projects that will improve local livability and grow our economy:

  • The Overland Train
  • St Arnaud Civic Precinct and Streetscape Upgrades
  • Stawell Land Development Project
  • The highest allocation in the state from the Fixing Country Road Program to upgrade local roads.
