Batteries are the biggest known contaminate in council's kerbside recycling bins.  Batteries disposed of in kerbside bins create problems such as causing fires at Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) and leach toxic and hazardous substances into our soils and waterways.

For more information about the importance of properly recycling batteries, please read this information brochure(PDF, 404KB).

Batteries can be recycled at collection sites throughout the shire.  All battery sizes are accepted, from small hearing aid batteries to D size.

NOTE *Car batteries can also be recycled at council operated transfer stations in Halls Gap and St Arnaud. All batteries collected are recycled.
