A slice of Stawell’s Main Street is set to be transformed into a winter wonderland over the school holidays, thanks to the support of Northern Grampians Shire Council and Stawell Regional Health.
A full-scale ice skating rink will be set up on the vacant land next to the Stawell Town offices from March 31 until April 16, offering the perfect cure for school holiday boredom.
Council will provide financial and logistical support to facilitate the skating rink’s installation, which Northern Grampians Shire Council Mayor, Cr Tony Driscoll said would also provide a welcome boost to Main Street business owners.
“This is expected to provide an influx of not only Stawell residents visiting the CBD, but should also attract a number of out out-of-town visitors to Stawell, not only to use the skating rink, but also to explore all that’s on offer in Stawell,” Cr Driscoll said.
“This event lines up well with the huge range of events on offer in Stawell across the Easter period, and adds another dimension to what’s on offer in the Northern Grampians Shire Council during that time.”
The ice skating rink will be on offer to prospective skaters of all ages, with sessions operating on the hour every hour between 10 am and 4 pm, while it will also be open between 7 pm and 8 pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
