Local businesses will get the chance to see exactly what’s on offer under the Northern Grampians Shire Council’s updated Business Assistance Scheme at official launches in St Arnaud and Stawell this month.

The launches will provide local business owners with the opportunity to hear more about the types of assistance on offer via the updated Business Assistance Scheme (BAS), as well as an opportunity to liaise with Northern Grampians Shire Councillors and staff.

The launches will also provide an important networking opportunity for business owners and their staff.

“As I said when the BAS was first approved at last month’s Council meeting, this is a clear illustration of Council’s commitment to building a more sustainable future for our local businesses, as well as actively working to attract potential investors to the region,” Northern Grampians Shire Council Mayor, Cr Tony Driscoll said.

“I would also encourage any potential investors, or business owners looking to diversify their income to attend and see what’s on offer.” Both launches will also deliver information on the Stawell and St Arnaud revitilisation projects.

The updated Business Assistance Scheme (BAS) will provide a range of aids aimed at attracting new businesses, or supporting existing businesses within the Shire to diversify their income and build a more sustainable future.

Forms of assistance provided by the BAS include financial and officer support, split into two distinct streams:

• The Foundation Assistance Program (FAP) allows for but is not limited to, contributing towards permit fees, provision of professional services, support through regulatory processes and other one-on-one in-kind support.

• The Targeted Assistance Program (TAP) provides specialised assistance to businesses who wish to undertake small, medium or large scale projects which align with regional objectives in the Northern Grampians, or which seek to address emerging economic trends or issues.

The launch details are:

● St Arnaud - Thursday, 8 March, 6 pm, St Arnaud Town Hall Community Meeting Room (Please enter from the Market Square entrance)

● Stawell - Wednesday, 14 March, 6 pm, Stawell Town Hall Foyer (Please use side entrance)
