Northern Grampians Shire Council has welcomed the announcement of 30 new jobs at Frewstal abattoir as a result of the company’s expansion.
Now in its final stages, the expansion has allowed Frewstal to increase its meat exports to the Middle East, China, Malaysia, Indonesia and the United States of America.
Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas visited Stawell yesterday to tour the upgraded site which includes new truck access facilities, stockyard refurbishments, elevated walkways, a new guardhouse and boom gates.
Mayor Cr Tony Driscoll said Council was appreciative of the Victorian State Government’s $500,000 investment in the expansion which will help to secure 450 existing jobs.
“With Stawell Gold Mine in a care and maintenance phase, it is pleasing to see the Victorian State Government supporting existing industry and helping to secure local employment,” he said.
“Frewstal is Stawell’s largest private sector employer and the progress and development happening there is extremely pleasing to see.”
