Council received 150 responses to our call out for input to choose the colour of the new shade sails to be installed at Halls Gap.

Terracotta was the clear winner with 47 per cent of the total votes. The second most popular was Dijon with 21 per cent.

The new shade sails will be ordered today from local business Carey Covers with a view to having them installed in the coming weeks.

Council is seeking input from the community to help select a colour for new shade sails to be built in Halls Gap to provide relief from the summer heat in the centre of town.

The shade sails are an amendment to the Halls Gap Streetscape Beautification Plan and will be installed based on feedback from residents and local businesses.

The sails will provide shade protection from the heat in the summer months and improve the experience of visitors and locals to the popular tourist town.

Council is seeking input from the community to select a colour for the two sails to go along with the existing landscape design and furniture on Grampians Road in the heart of Halls Gap.

Northern Grampians Shire Council Mayor, Murray Emerson, said the sails will provide a long-lasting and sturdy solution to help people stay safe and sun smart.

“We’ve listened to the feedback from the community about the Halls Gap Streetscape Plan and now we need your input to help finish the project,” he said.

“This is a chance for the community to make the final touches of this plan really theirs and to have their main street reflect the wishes and personality of those who use it most.”

To have your say on the colour of the shade sails in Halls Gap, vote for your favourite in our online survey here but be quick as we will be closing the survey at 5pm on Saturday 20 June.
