NGSC announce Central Park, Cato Park and Maud Street Dams Masterplan

Northern Grampians Shire Council is seeking community input for an upcoming masterplan that is set to develop Central Park, Cato Park and the Maud Street Dams in Stawell.

The funding to develop the masterplan was made possible via a grant from the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund, which once created, may lead to greater funding opportunities for the ideas and initiatives that come out of the community consultation period.

After years of significant work and consultation identifying the three sites as suitable areas for development, Council will now consult heavily with the community to develop a vision for use of the space via a future masterplan.

Stawell Ward Councillor, Murray Emerson said, “During our endeavour to create better facilities within these precincts, it’s important the community have the opportunity for consultation as to what those developments might be.”

“Council has an advisory group which will also consult with the community to get the best outcome.”

Community members and groups are encouraged to provide feedback on topics such as what activities they currently enjoy in those spaces, what they value about the locations, how they’d like to use those spaces in future and how they could be improved for future use.

The community consultation period will run from the middle of September to the end of November in various formats including community site walks, Council website, social media, drop off boxes and a formalised reference group.
