Cato Park Safety Lighting Project now complete

The Cato Park Safety Lighting Project is now complete, after 20 streetlights and 7 floodlights were recently installed and switched on at the park.

The streetlights were installed on the walking path around Cato Lake, while the floodlights were placed near the steps structure, within the rotunda next to the senior citizens building and at the rear of the Powerhouse building.

The lighting will increase public safety of community members while using the park, as well as decreasing the chance of crime within the precinct as well.

Stawell Ward Councillor, Karen Hyslop said, “This project was undertaken due to a public request to make the park safer to use at night.”

“Already we’ve had lots of positive feedback from the community saying that the lights look fantastic.”

The Cato Park Safety Lighting Project was funded by the Victorian Government’s Community Crime Prevention Program.

Over $100,000 was invested into the project by the Victorian Government.
