34 Alma Street to be gifted to the St Arnaud Neighbourhood House

In 2001 Northern Grampians Shire Council acquired 34 Alma Street with help from a state government grant. Since then, it has been put to great community use by the St Arnaud Neighbourhood House Inc and subsequently the Men’s Shed.

‘As part of its property rationalisation, Council negotiated with the Neighbourhood House to gift the property to them with the understanding that if they sell the property at some point, Council’s original financial contribution is returned, Cr Tony Driscoll, Mayor of Northern Grampians Shire Council said.

‘The Neighbourhood House and the Men’s Shed provide a vital community service in St Arnaud. This decision gives them both surety of tenure and independence and Council divests itself of a property that will not be used for Council purposes. It is a win-win situation.’

Community members who may want to comment on the proposed sale to the St Arnaud Neighbourhood House Inc have until 5.00pm on Thursday 12 July 2018 to make a submission in writing to the Council.
