Northern Grampians Shire Council is undertaking a long term strategic plan for Stawell in order to achieve the council's overall vision to:- enhance lifestyle and community - promote key livability aspects of Stawell- develop spaces that encourage activity and community participation- plan for future population growth
The much loved Stawell Sports & Aquatic Centre (previously the Stawell Leisure Centre) was opened in 1986. To ensure the facility continues to serve the community well into the future, Northern Grampians Shire Council is committed to investigating upgrades to the centre. The redevelopment will be conducted in several stages, beginning with the SSAC Feasibility and Master plan project in 2020.
Northern Grampians Shire Council has decided there is a need to provide for the residential growth of Stawell through the development of eight hectares of council owned land fronting Sloane Street, Stawell. The site is serviced and sits on a gentle slope overlooking the Grampians and Black Ranges.

Council is excited to present for community comment, the new Arts and Culture Policy 2020 and the Arts and Culture Strategy 2020-24. Council is inviting comment on a set of draft policy documents linked to the implementation of the new Local Government Act which must be adopted by council before 1 September 2020.
The Northern Grampians Shire Council is currently establishing the foundation for a critical piece of work. Over the next six months, Council will work with a steering committee, made up of top industry sector representatives to deliver an Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan for 2021-31 (the ‘Strategy’).
