School Holiday Program, April 2025

From Storytime and ‘crafternoons’ to street art workshops and pop-up swimming lessons, Northern Grampians Shire Council is offering a range of school holiday activities to help keep families entertained. Scroll down and expand each section to find out what's on offer and when so you can head along with the family.

Saturday, April 5

  • Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre: the centre will be open per normal programing between 9am and 1pm.
  • Both Libraries: Stawell and St Arnaud will be open per their normal schedules of 10am to 12pm.

Sunday, April 6

  • Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre: the centre will be open per normal programing between 1pm and 5pm.
  • St Arnaud Cinema: venture over to St Arnaud for a 2pm showing of Widow Clicquot (M). You can watch the trailer here. To find out more, including ticket prices, click here.
  • Stawell Library: head along to their Lego Club between 2pm and 5pm and let the bricks take over their imagination for a while.
  • St Arnaud Library: closed on Sundays. 

Monday, April 7

  • Stawell Sports & Aquatic Centre: there's fun to be had at SSAC between 11.30am and 12.30pm with Stadium Games returning these school holidays! Bring some friends for games of curling, soccer, basketball, yo-fro, and badminton.

Tuesday, April 8

  • Stawell Sports & Aquatic Centre: Sensory Play will be available between 9am and 10am for kids aged 3-months to 5-years with Pickleball then available on the indoor basketball court between 12pm and 1pm.
  • St Arnaud Library: head over to the St Arnaud Library between 10am and 5pm to jump on the Smoothie Bike and have some fun making a smoothie mix in a less conventional way.
  • Stawell Library: join the team from 2.30pm for a crafternoon featuring fun arts and crafts for all ages. 

Wednesday, April 9

  • Stawell Sports & Aquatic Centre: everyone could benefit from a little zen in their lives, even our little ones, so why not get them to try a session of Kids Yoga between 10.30am and 11.30am. There will then be Teen Gym available between 4pm and 5pm for kids aged 12-16 years. 
  • Stawell Library: kids will love to Wiggle and Read between 2pm and 3pm, a space to enjoy stories and move their bodies at the same time, all whilst having fun with other kids as well. And one for the adults starting at 5.30pm is their Mid-week Reset meditation session, a nice way to wind down from a busy afternoon. 
  • St Arnaud Library: drop into the St Arnaud Library between 1pm and 5pm to get assistance with all things digital at their new pop-up Tech Lab. 
  • Online Event: An Evening with Liane Moriarty. For those who love Liane's extensive story collection, jump online from 7pm to hear from her and BorrowBox content expert Natasha Boyd on her next release - Here One Moment. Register here - bit.ly/3FlVZmZ.

Thursday, April 10

  • Stawell Sports & Aquatic Centre: jump into the pool between 9am and 11.30am for Round 1 of their Pop-up Swimming Lesson program.  
  • Both Libraries: St Arnaud and Stawell libraries will both be hosting storytime at 10.30am.
  • St Arnaud Library: will also have a free craft activity that afternoon from 2pm.

Friday, April 11

  • Stawell Sports & Aquatic Centre: jump into the pool between 9am and 11.30am for Round 2 of their Pop-up Swimming Lesson program or head along to a social Basketball session between 11am and 12pm on the indoor court. 

Saturday, April 12

  • Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre: the centre will be open per normal programing between 9am and 1pm.
  • Both Libraries: Stawell and St Arnaud will be open per their normal schedules between 10am and 12pm.

Sunday, April 13

  • Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre: the centre will be open per normal programing between 1pm and 5pm.
  • Stawell Library: head along to their Lego Club between 2pm and 5pm and let the bricks take over their imagination for a while.
  • St Arnaud Library: closed on Sundays. 

Monday, April 14

  • Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre: join them for Round 3 of their Pop-up Swimming Lesson program between 9am and 11.30am.
  • St Arnaud Pop-up Playgroup: come and join other local families for a pop-up playgroup session between 10.30am and 12pm in the Perry Room at the St Arnaud Town Hall where a selection of arts and crafts and storytime will be available. 

Tuesday, April 15

  • Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre: being your little ones along to Sensory Play between 9am and 10am or jump into the pool for their final round of Pop-up Swimming Lessons between 9am and 11am
  • Stawell Library: head along from 2.30pm to enjoy some Easter crafting fun for all ages. 

Wednesday, April 16

  • Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre: calling all kids to join in on the fun with their first school holiday Pool Games running between 1.30pm and 2.15pm!
  • Stawell Library: kids will love to Wiggle and Read between 2pm and 3pm, a space to enjoy stories and move their bodies at the same time, all whilst having fun with other kids as well. And one for the adults starting at 5.30pm is their Mid-week Reset meditation session, a nice way to wind down from a busy afternoon. 
  • St Arnaud: their new pop-up Tech Lab will be available for anyone needing digital assistance between 1pm and 5pm

Thursday, April 17

  • Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre: their final school holiday program will be some great Easter Activities on offer between 11am and 12pm so pop along to find out what's on offer. 
  • Both Libraries: St Arnaud and Stawell libraries will both be hosting storytime at 10.30am.
  • St Arnaud Library: there will be a collaborative space for news-of-day discussion from 11am with a kid's craft activity available from 2pm.

Stawell Easter Festival

Easter in Stawell is something we look forward to each year featuring four days of vibrancy, atmosphere and connection across our beautiful region.

Regular major events including the Great Western Rodeo on Friday, April 18, Stawell Cup on Sunday, April 20 and the Stawell Gift which runs from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21 are all returning in 2025 so make sure you add these into your diaries. You can view the full program of events and everything on offer here

Family favourite, the Easter fireworks display, is also back again on Saturday, April 19 at 8.30pm at Cato Park. We'll see you there!

Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre

The centre will be closed on Friday, April 18, but open per normal programming on Saturday between 9am and 1pm and Sunday between 1pm and 5pm. They will also be open on Monday under a Public Holiday timetable, please keep a lookout on their Facebook page for further information once the hours are confirmed.

Stawell and St Arnaud Libraries

Both libraries will be closed between Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21, reopening and normal on Tuesday morning from 10am.
