MEMPC Expressions of Interest
Volunteer Opportunity Overview
Now is your chance to be involved in discussions about local planning and preparation for emergencies in the Northern Grampians Shire.
We are looking for volunteers from the community who are able to commit to two meetings a year to help us prepare for emergencies in our region.
Northern Grampians Shire Council is part of a group of local organisations and emergency agency representatives who meet four times a year to discuss local priorities to better prepare our communities for emergencies.
People that attend these meetings are usually local volunteers and agency staff. This group is called the “Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee” or the “MEMPC”.
The Northern Grampians MEMPC now wants to invite some local people that can provide a local community viewpoint to join the committee. We are looking for local people with knowledge and/or experience in the following areas:
5) Education/School Camps
6) Youth – We are looking for young leader/s (16 years +), to help provide a “youth” viewpoint.
Expectations of the role:
Attend a minimum of 2 meetings per year for 2 hours each, during business hours.
Have an interest in your local community and the emergencies that they could experience.
Share common community viewpoints and local community information.
Assist in sharing the MEMPC’s public information with your community.

How long could you be involved for?
Your initial membership period will be 2 years (minimum total of 4 meetings required). Every 2 years this process will be repeated and you will be able to reapply.
The next step is to register your interest with Northern Grampians Shire Council by filling out the expression of interest form below which should take no longer than 10 minutes.

Once we have looked at your expression of interest, we will contact you about your application and suitability for joining our MEMPC.
Expressions of interest must be submitted to Council by 5 pm, Friday 31 January 2020.
