Australia Day 2022

Council assists the Australia Day Committee (Victoria) to celebrate Australia Day at the local level through Australia Day events and local government awards that provide an important opportunity to acknowledge local achievers for their outstanding contributions.

The awards that aim to recognise the contributions of members of our communities will be presented at the annual Australia Day celebrations held on Wednesday, 26 January 2022 in Stawell and St Arnaud.

Australia Day Ambassadors 2022

The Australia Day Ambassadors for 2022 are: -

Itinerary for the St Arnaud Australia Day Event

8am - Free Community Breakfast in Market Square, courtesy of Rotary and Lions Clubs of St Arnaud

9am - Official Australia Day Awards Ceremony and Flag Raising Ceremony, followed by morning tea in the St Arnaud Town Hall, courtesy of The Friends of the Queen Mary Gardens, St Arnaud.

Itinerary for the Stawell Australia Day Event

6pm - Official Australia Day Awards Ceremony at Cato Park, followed by an Australian Citizenship Ceremony.  A free Community BBQ will be available, courtesy of Stawell Woolworths Supermarket and the Rotary Club of Stawell.  There will also be family activities for everyone to enjoy.

COVID Safe Plan for Australia Day Events

Anyone attending either the St Arnaud or Stawell Australia Day Events will be required to sign in by QR Code or written contact details. There will be a COVID Marshall available to help with check-ins. Wearing face masks outdoors is not mandatory, but is strongly recommended if you are unable to adhere to density rules.
These arrangements could change at a moment's notice, due to COVID regulations.

For any community members unable to attend the Australia Day events, both the St Arnaud and Stawell events will be livestreamed via the Northern Grampians Shire Facebook page.
