Northern Grampians Shire has a rich culture and history.

Local indigenous stories can be discovered at Brambuk Cultural Centre and Gariwerd (Grampians National Park) is home to 80% of Victoria’s rock art sites, some dating back more than 20,000 years. There are approximately 200 rock art sites recorded, with five sites open to the public.

Gold mining and agriculture also play a large part in the history of the shire. Relics of the mining history can be seen across towns and also in the collections of our many local historical societies.

Future projects include the construction of WAMA, the Wildlife Art Museum of Australia.
