Meals on Wheels guide to be launched
Published on 20 November 2015
Northern Grampians Shire Council will officially launch its Meals on Wheels Volunteer Guide on 4 December.
Celebrating the lead up to International Volunteer Day and hosted by the Mayor, the launch will take place at Shop 108 Main Street, Stawell.
Mayor Cr Murray Emerson said the event would be a good opportunity for potential volunteers to learn more about the Meals on Wheels program.
“We’re encouraging both existing and potential volunteers to come along, get a copy of the guide, and have a free sausage from the sausage sizzle,” Cr Emerson said.
“Some of our current volunteers will be on hand to chat to people about what it’s like to be a Meals on Wheels volunteer, the benefits of the program, and how you can get involved,” he said.
St Arnaud’s volunteers will also be recognised with their own Meals on Wheels Volunteer Guide and a token of recognition available for collection from the St Arnaud Town Hall. St Arnaud volunteers are encouraged to contact Sue Medlyn on 5495 1500 to arrange collection.
The event will take place from 11am until 2pm. If you would like to receive a guide but are unable to attend on the day, please contact Meg Newton at Northern Grampians Shire Council on 5358 8700.
