Fuel Reduction Burning (09-Oct-2009)

Permits for fuel reduction burning may be issued in accordance with Council’s General Local Law in townships within the Northern Grampians Shire during October 11th-18th.

Permits will include conditions requiring burning to be undertaken safely and will be dependent on suitable weather conditions.

Application forms and standard permit conditions are available from Council’s website or from customer service centres.

Residents living in a farming zone or a rural living zone are not required to obtain a permit unless the burning is undertaken within the fire danger period as declared by the CFA in which case burning can only occur if a permit to burn has been issued.

Council’s Local Law allows fuel reduction burning in Halls Gap without a permit during the last 14 days of October (including October 18th), however residents planning to burn off on Halls Gap Clean Up Day are required to register their intention to burn at the Halls Gap Post Office prior to 5pm on Friday October 16th

Halls Gap residents seeking to burn off after October 18th are required to contact the Shire prior to burning.

For further enquiries please contact Council on 5358 8700.
